A lot of things happen at Wadena Hide and Fur. So much that, sometimes we simply lose track of everything that goes on at our place. What we always remember is that Wadena Hide and Fur is a full service scrap materials recycling center.
Our Dad used to say that we are primary processors of secondary materials. Or you could say that years ago they called it "junk" and we paid for it. But now it’s called recycling and we STILL pay for it. Our parents, Charlie and Bernie, moved to Wadena after WWII and took over Wadena Hide and Fur from Max Pink. Today, Wadena Hide and Fur is run by two of his sons, Tom and Rich along with a crew of 10 or so. |
We’ll pay you for just about anything that is metal scrap including iron, machinery, autos, tin, pop cans, aluminum, copper, brass, radiators, stainless, batteries and lead. Once we get a bunch of it and process it, we send it along to a steel mill, or a metal foundry where it’s made into new material. That’s the scrap part of our place. There is more. . .
If you need to build something out of steel, or need to repair some equipment, you can get the steel you need from us. We carry the largest inventory in the area of flats and angles, square and round tubing and pipe, channels and sheets. If you need unique alloys, aluminum and stainless, we can special order it for you.
We also have some trucks and roll-off containers. We can bring you a container for demolition, or mixed municipal waste (garbage) or even scrap iron. If you’re a business that generates scrap we can supply containers to collect the materials.
And rest assured, we still buy deer and beef hides. Who wouldn’t with a name like ours? But just so you know, we stopped buying fur about 10 years ago . . . we just can’t bring ourselves to remove it from the name.
